WHO IS STAAL?
The Giant who holds up Blissdane Naive
The Giant who holds up Blissdane Naive
This is the story of a valiant warrior named Staal Valore and his love, Musia Arccrm, daughter to King Golizar Sinth Arccrm.
In 965 M.T. the Qeshland colony of New Qesh was beginning to see tensions rise after burdensome taxation and regulations were levied by King Aster Qesh. The Qeshland King needed revenue to finance wars and conquests for Qeshland. He was confident that the armies he stationed across the Tenebris ocean would maintain law and order and a continued source of revenue. They could not. The addition of new taxes was too much for the colonists and New Qesh declared itself independent and adopted the name Evshlohogi (later Evshlohogi Islands), named after the 5 brave sisters who lost their lives in the fight against an invasion by the Lia Antootica pirates decades earlier.
Evshlohogi officials quickly formed a new constitutional monarchy naming the Sinth Arccrm family as the rightful royals and Golizar Sinth Arccrm was crowned King. When word of the colony's declaration reached Qeshland, the King summoned his advisors. All of his top men were in agreement that a show of force was in order to end the illegal seperation. The Qeshland Navy set sail immediately.
King Arccrm was forced to raise an army for the incoming assault. Two men volunteered to raise and lead what would be the new military for Evshlohogi. The first was the former commander of the Qeshland Navy, Veer O'Rorh. He was now a wealthy island businessman involved with several ventures. He also had been trying desperately to win the heart of the King's Daughter, Musia Sinth Arccrm. His motives were multifaceted.
The second volunteer was Staal Valore, the current commander of the small Qeshland Army and Navy. Older and wiser than Veer, Staal was loyal to the new country and King. His first order of business was to vanquish the men who did not support the new independent country. They were allowed to return to their native homeland. This proved a valuable move in the eyes of the King and helped lean favor towards Staal who was chosen to command the newly formed Evshlohogi Military. O'Rorh was angered by the King's choice but put his anger aside for another day.
Word reached Staal that Qeshland ships were on their way and coming fast. With little time to form a military, Staal and King Arccrm dispatched diplomats to other countries to raise capital and to find men willing to fight for the fledgling country. Not wanting to risk angering King Aster Qesh, these countries secretly invested funds in Evshlohogi but in lieu of military help they instead encouraged their citizens to volunteer as mercenaries. This strategy worked perfectly and near a year after declaring independence from Qeshland, Staal and King Arccrm had an army and navy to challenge Qeshland's fighting force.
King Aster Qesh engaged a large portion of his military might to squelch the illegal uprising in his colony. This concerned King Arccrm but Staal assured his King to worry not—he had a secret advantage. Hidden within the disloyal men he had vanquished a year earlier, he planted a spy, for he knew then that King Astar Qesh would not allow the islands to go peacefully. His spy then secretly sent to Staal the plan of attack and when the Qeshland Navy arrived, the city was fortified with local troops and the mercenaries from nearby countries. Citizens from each of the five islands participated in any way they could. This was a struggle for which all were willing to give their lives. As a surprise strategy, Staal placed his very small navy out to sea nearby, split in two. Half his ships were placed north of the capitol city of Wallavice, the second half to the south. Wallavice was the seat of the new country's government and monarchy. Staal was informed that this was where the Qeshland Navy would aim its total attack. Qeshland's strategy was simple; the destruction of the capitol city would bring the rebels to their knees. Staal was ready.
As the Qeshland ships arrived, they received heavier bombardment than expected. They returned fire but found themselves equally matched. The Qeshland Commander, confident that he had the edge gave the order to continue the assault despite their losses. But he was then surprised and surrounded by Staal's warships. Within two hours the Qeshland siege was thwarted. The Qeshland Commander lost most of his ships and tried to turn around to evade capture but his ship was surrounded and sunk. Not wanting the dishonor of capture, he shot himself as his ship was sinking. The few remaining Qeshland ships surrendered and the men were imprisoned and later allowed to leave or remain as loyal citizens to King Arccrm.
Staal and his military were given a hero's welcome by King and Country. The King was so pleased that he promised his daughter's hand in marriage to Staal and although she favored the younger and more handsome Veer O'Rorh; she did her duty and welcomed Staal's courtship without protest. She respected Staal and soon that respect grew into admiration and eventually, into love.
The building of the new country required support from nearby nations and The King would dispatch Staal and Princess Musia on critical diplomatic missions for the country. With Evshlohogi in debt to several countries who came to their aid, Staal, and the Princess were asked to sail to these countries to deliver a message of gratitude. With most of Evshlohogi's ervesent gold used for the war effort, ships filled with commodities were to be delivered as a show of faith that their debt would be repaid. Two warships would escort the mission.
Staal and the Princess were in route to Mrokland, their fifth country to visit, when a horrible fate would intervene. Lia Antootica pirate ships lay waiting for the Evshlohogi envoy to pass through the Sea of Time. This was Lia Antootica's chance at revenge. The pirate ships outnumbered the envoy and attacked. But Staal was an excellent commander and even though they were outnumbered, he was able to outmaneuver the pirates. The Lia Antootica pirates retreated but not before causing severe damage and loss of life—including the Princess who was hit by cannon fire.
After rescuing pirates from the waters Staal learned from these prisoners that they were alerted to the envoy. When asked by whom, the prisoners could only say that it was from a former Qeshland military leader. Staal realized immediately that they were referring to Veer O'Rorh.
Staal returned to Evshlohogi to deliver the news of the Princess's death. The King was devastated. Staal promised the King to find and capture Veer O'Rorh. O'Rorh was eventually captured at sea as he tried to escape back to Qeshland. He was returned to Evshlohogi for trial and was then executed for treason but both the King and Staal were hollow men without Princess Musia.
After years of suffering from a broken heart, King Golivar Sinth Arccrm passed away. As for Staal Valore, it is said he was so heart broken that he banished himself to unknown parts. He was never heard of again and over time the legend grew of Staal’s heroic act. He is now part of Evshlohogi myth as the giant who holds up Blissdane Naive for his love, Musia Arccrm--for all eternity.
Today, Evshlohogi Islands is a peaceful and wealthy nation that honors its history. Memorials cover the islands. The Arccrm Family remains the royal monarchy led by Queen Esmi Arccrm. She is mother to three daughters. Princess, Zia, Iza and Azi.
